The University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced the Multiple Entry and Exit System for both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs, effective from the academic year 2025-26. This initiative aims to enhance flexibility and student autonomy in higher education.
Key Features:
- Exit Points: Students can exit their course after completing 1, 2, 3, or 4 years, earning a Certificate, Diploma, General Degree, or Honours Degree, respectively.
- Academic Bank of Credits (ABC): All credits earned will be digitally stored, allowing easy transfer and accumulation across universities.
- Dual Degrees: Students can pursue two degrees simultaneously (UG or PG), even from different institutions or modes (offline, online, distance).
- Biannual Admissions: Institutions will offer admissions twice a year, reducing waiting times for students.
These reforms align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and provide students with greater flexibility in their academic journey.
